Dr. Evan Akins – Senior Pastor
Senior Pastor Dr. Evan Akins accepted Christ as his Savior when he was eight years old. At age sixteen, Bro. Evan was baptized by his maternal grandfather. The summer after his senior year of high school, Bro. Evan attended Gulf Shores Baptist Assembly with his youth group from Rockhill Baptist Church, Mt. Olive MS. It was there where he surrendered his life to full time vocational ministry.
Bro. Evan received a B.S. from William Carey University, a M.Div. from New Orleans Baptist
Theological Seminary, and a Ph. D. from Piedmont International University. He has served eleven years
in the Army National Guard and Army Reserves, culminating in his position as Chaplain of the 321st
Sustainment Brigade, Baton Rouge, LA.
He served in various ministerial staff positions in churches in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. He has served as pastor of three different churches in Mississippi, including his current place of service at Faithview Baptist Church.
Bro. Evan is passionate about answering the call to be disciple makers. One of his greatest joys in the ministry is seeing people he has the privilege of serving grow in their walk with the Lord. He is
conscientious not only to make disciples, but to help develop other disciples makers. Bro. Evan is married to his wife of 14 years, Julie Lambert Akins and has one precious daughter, Priscilla Nicole Akins. When Bro. Evan is not serving his family or the church, he enjoys various outdoor pursuits to include deer hunting, turkey hunting, and fishing.

Jonathan Bailey – Youth pastor
I was raised in Raleigh, Mississippi with my father and grandfather as pastors of my church. I was brought up with values of hard work, family, church, and creating space to have fun. My experience is one that I wish more kids had the opportunity to enjoy. I came to faith as a young child with my parents leading the way by providing me with high moral standards and a godly example.
As an adult, I pray for God to use me as the spiritual leader of my family and to set a godly example for my children as well. I have been married for 11 years to my beautiful wife Laura Beth Bailey of Seminary, MS. We have been blessed with twin sons Bryson and Tyson Bailey. We moved to Gulfport, MS in 2019 for our twins to attend Colorful Minds Academy.
I have served in different roles during the last 20 years including playing the drums on the worship team, associate pastor, & youth minister. During that time, I realized God had placed a desire in me to invest in today’s youth. I attended Parkersburg Bible College and received my B.A. & M.A. in Theology.
My hobbies are lifting weights, playing basketball, traveling, and watching sports. I work full time for Armstrong Flooring as a Corporate Procurement Specialist. I look forward to my ministry here at Faith View Baptist Church and believe that God has great things in store for our youth.
Ms. Rebekah Barton – Worship Leader
I have been blessed to be raised in a home where God was put first. Both of my parents were called to the ministries and I just knew that I would be too. As a teenager, I realized that I couldn’t live off of my parent’s salvation and I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior.
A few years later, I knew God was calling me to go out and spread His love. I thought that was to the mission fields. I never thought music was the route that God wanted me to take.
I went through some hardships and hit my lowest and lows and that’s when I laid my life down at Jesus’ feet and I told him that this is Your life and you can do whatever You want with it, I SURRENDER!
After that moment, God opened so many doors for me. I helped lead several youth worship nights, been ask to sing at the Gulf Coast Baptist Association, and helped churches from McHenry to Gulfport with their music programs. Now, God has led me to Faithview.
I have been blessed with my beautiful son and daughter. I love to play softball and I’m very fortunate to have coached at a high school level. In my free time, I listen to music and try to grow as much knowledge as possible. I’m exited to see what God has planned for us at Faithview.
