Dr. Evan Akins – Senior Pastor
Senior Pastor Dr. Evan Akins accepted Christ as his Savior when he was eight years old. At age sixteen, Bro. Evan was baptized by his maternal grandfather. The summer after his senior year of high school, Bro. Evan attended Gulf Shores Baptist Assembly with his youth group from Rockhill Baptist Church, Mt. Olive MS. It was there where he surrendered his life to full time vocational ministry.
Bro. Evan received a B.S. from William Carey University, a M.Div. from New Orleans Baptist
Theological Seminary, and a Ph. D. from Piedmont International University. He has served eleven years
in the Army National Guard and Army Reserves, culminating in his position as Chaplain of the 321st
Sustainment Brigade, Baton Rouge, LA.
He served in various ministerial staff positions in churches in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. He has served as pastor of three different churches in Mississippi, including his current place of service at Faithview Baptist Church.
Bro. Evan is passionate about answering the call to be disciple makers. One of his greatest joys in the ministry is seeing people he has the privilege of serving grow in their walk with the Lord. He is
conscientious not only to make disciples, but to help develop other disciples makers. Bro. Evan is married to his wife of 14 years, Julie Lambert Akins and has one precious daughter, Priscilla Nicole Akins. When Bro. Evan is not serving his family or the church, he enjoys various outdoor pursuits to include deer hunting, turkey hunting, and fishing.
